Cthulhu Dark Ages is a world illuminated only by fire. Ancient empires collapsed centuries ago, taking their culture and knowledge with them. It´s a dark world and people are right to be afraid of the dark. In addition to Viking raiders, witches and outlaws, there are relentless dead, ancient horrors and other malevolent beings lurking in this land. Dark entities beyond good and evil wait hidden in the recesses of time and the corners of space. A few brave souls strive to combat these horrors and return them to where they came from. Cthulhu Dark Ages has been updated for this edition of Call of Cthulhu, completely revised and featuring plenty of new setting material. Inside you´ll find a player´s guide to the Dark Years, an optional Sanity mechanic to reflect the medieval mindset, rules for the oral tradition of storytelling and mounted combat, a Grimoire of Dark Years spells, and optional rules for traditional magic, a bestiary of monsters, as well as a fully detailed setting: the Anglo-Saxon community of Totburh, in the Severn Valley, England, full of interesting characters, descriptions of their homes and a multitude of plot hooks that the Guardian can use and develop. Three ready-to-play adventures will introduce players to the world of Cthulhu Dark Ages, drawing on the tensions, characters and horrors that lurk in Totburh and the lands surrounding this community. With only the light of a candle and your wits, begin a journey into the dark years.
